On the Diamond Beach in Southern Iceland, frozen blocks of water from a nearby glacier stand alone, like boulders, reflecting light like diamonds. Glaciers flow like rivers, carve away the land, move massive boulders, and yet look and feel inert and hard, like rock. Glaciers, like the Northern Lights, are ephemeral. Yes, glaciers and Aurora will always exist, but these specific lights and frozen rivers will disappear. It feels eerie that something as massive and powerful as a glacier can disappear as completely as if it never existed.
